The Certificate IV in Mental Health is suited to workers who provide support and self-directed recovery support to individuals affected by mental and psychiatric illness or disability. At this level, workers will implement activities and community-based programs around psychiatric disability and mental health. Work may be undertaking in a variety of community contexts, including home based outreach, respite care, residential services, community-based non-government organisations, clinical settings and rehabilitation programs. They may also help psychiatrically disabled individuals in their employment. Mental health professionals typically work autonomously under the broad guidance of other professionals and practitioners.
