To achieve your Certificate IV in Disability Support through RPL, you’ll need to demonstrate that your existing skills meet the qualification’s competency requirements.
Your evidence should reflect the responsibilities you’ve undertaken and the way you provide safe, respectful, person-centred support.
Suitable evidence may include:
- Existing qualifications: Your Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), or the alternative qualifications required for entry.
- Progress notes and shift reports: De-identified records showing how you’ve supported people with disability.
- Support plans: Examples of your contributions to implementing individual support plans, behaviour support strategies, or personal goals.
- Incident documentation: De-identified reports demonstrating how you’ve responded to incidents and followed workplace procedures.
- Supervisor references: Statements confirming your responsibilities, independence, and practical skills.
- Employment records: Position descriptions, rosters, payslips, and employment contracts.
- Professional development: Certificates for first aid, CPR, the NDIS Worker Orientation Module, and other relevant training.
- Team coordination evidence: Records demonstrating mentoring, shift coordination, or leadership responsibilities where applicable.
Protecting participant privacy is essential.
De-identify all workplace documents appropriately before submission. Remove participant names, NDIS numbers, photographs, and any other information that could identify the people you support.
Your Skills Certified consultant will help you identify suitable evidence and organise your portfolio.
You won’t necessarily need every document listed above. The aim is to demonstrate your competency using appropriate evidence from your existing work.
